Endless Knot ∞ Finite Wood
The Endless Knot is an ancient symbol that has held significance for many different cultures through history. In this video, one is being made from thin wooden strips.

It's easy to see why the knot was so often used as an adornment. The form has a quiet elegance about it. It's made of one continuous circuit, so it's pleasant to stare at with wonder. Given the perpetual cycles of life and change which surround us, the Endless Knot is at least as useful as a reminding metaphor as it is a wall-hanging.

It's about time for you to come back once again mister Pocket! I think I can speak for a lot of people if I say we really miss your amazing content. No stupid clickbaity thumbnails. Just awesome creations and amazing knowledge with a funny twist here and there. We beg you! Hope all is well and hopefully see you soon! ❤
about 8 yers later, i want to know, was it a good idea or not? 😄
Still virtually unchanged. It's the best I can come up with for an annoying problem. I'd say I'm _somewhat_ happy with it.

Cool video, Thanks I am seeing lots of hummingbirds now on my feeders. I am also having fun making close up feeding videos.
He’s great!, with his extraordinary idea of using a soy sauce bottle for a “Hummingbird feeder”, being small enough for “clean up” and refilling for the next days feeding🪶…👍🏽🤩
I hope one day you will show us another work of philosophical art of yours. Bless you.

I love this design. But how do you keep them from leaking? Have tried to level it the best I can.
There are a few things you can do. First, try to position it so that it's away from sunlight. Also, if a full bottle has been refrigerated, allow it to come to room temperature before hanging it. Remember, it will drip whenever it heats up quickly. You can also limit drips by reducing its movement/sway. For example, hang it with a shorter, or heavier, or more rigid, chain. If you absolutely can't stand any drips, and you can't position it over grass, then you can try using something to catch drips, like a plate of water. A handful of sand on the patio will also absorb the liquid and prevent staining. If ants are a concern, then use a bucket of water. Ants avoid water. With a soy sauce feeder, there shouldn't be _too_ much dripping, but some is normal; wind, bumps from other birds, and even aggressive hummers can cause the feeder to sway or spin. As a general rule, unless your bottle is being visited continuously by hummingbirds, you shouldn't expect to replace the liquid more than once every day or two. If you are, then the bottle cap should probably be replaced. A functional but un-visited bottle will empty itself after perhaps 1.5-2 weeks. I know this because we put one out in late April, even though most birds don't arrive until around May first (In sw central PA.). Also note that I consider the small amount of dripping a good thing, because it allows a feeder to empty itself completely rather than become toxic (in case you forget). Think of it as bad-handler insurance.
to clean black spots put a bit of sand in the bottle with water and spin/shake it around then wash afterwards with soapy water
I tried magnets, I tried commercial RV door catches. This is better than both.
Agreed. There's nothing better. Sometimes I wonder if they're still on the shed. Sold the house years ago, but the owner would be crazy to replace those latches. One of my most underrated projects. Thanks.
Yooo. Brillllls! This is brilliant!
LOL at "If you've seen the bandages on my fingers...."
Guess I'm 10 years late, but really enjoyed this puzzle build video. Well done and makes this very "makeable" by all that view it. The bit to drill this was called a Forestner bit and I would also spray the steel rods also with Lacquer to protect from corrosion in the long run. Great Job on this!!!!
Nice idea with the wedge riving knife for small thin stuff - good job.
Hi do you make for sell?
I love your idea!. Another means to hang the soy bottle is a suction cup attached to the top of the bottle. I did not have any copper wire hanging around the house. But I did find a suction cup. This allows the soy bottle to hang perfectly perpendicular to the ground. Thanks for your idea. Regards, Alan
👍❤️❤️❤️
As a kid I would make the feeders with old pill bottles tied to a stick. Vaseline on the stick was my ant barrier and I would put a little bowl of water and sugar water nearby. I love the reuse of the bottles and the DIY flowers. Flowers often go missing. How deep do the flowers go into the jar?
This is my kind of humour 😂💀
Are these legal ?
Cool!
I knew I saved that bottle for a reason. I saw this video, I paused it at 36 seconds. I'm back after 7 minutes with my feeder completed and ready to hang. It took longer to search for my 6mm wire than it did to put the thing together. Thank you!!!!
Do you have to drill holes in the lid for the hummingbirds?
@@TCBLightningBolt No need. The holes are part of the lid/cap pouring design already built in. It will not drip unless tilted so it has to be hung level.
❤
Thank you for the great simple design! All the other options on internet are too much work of don't make sense))
thank you, sir. i will carry on the responsibility of taking care of these birds, i will make sure this design of yours will be well stocked with fresh nectar, and maintained for the benefit of the wild humming birds in my area.
👍👻
Looks like a lot of work went into these, but boy, you really smashed it - great job!
Hey man just found the channel and love the content. I have created a game board consisting of 10"x12 in sound proofing hexagons with the board being 3 rows with 4 hexagons in the middle and 3 on each side. I have only used this for minimalistic war gaming but was wondering if you had any unique ideas for this niche board I've made? Thanks again and I will be making an iso path board this week lol.
I’m here in thailand where although there are no hummingbirds we do have sunbirds… I wonder if they’d also come to such a feeder.
I definitely found that interesting I’m gonna have my husband make one or two or three lol
Very good project.
Thanks for sharing. However, out here where I live, kikkoman soy sauce bottles are hard to find, so this is not the cheapest and easiest for me at least. Nice work on the copper chain though.
Where is "out here," exactly? The brand is rather widespread. It's not ideal, but the 'big A' sells a two-pack for still less than what most feeders cost. Just keep your eyes open whenever you travel ;)
Nice. 😃👍
Absolutely great video and I am definitely doing this! Thank you!
Great job
Thank for the help! Great music taste too!
Ingenious in its simplicity.

Thanks for sharing. Just what I needed to create bulkheads/frames for a boat..
20:30 you just broke my brain
Great job,the only thing I would add is an on/off toggle switch .you could build the switch into small outlet box screwed to the underside of the table on the operator side.Connect the power cord to the switch box by a 110v outlet also incorporated in the switch box.leave the block of wood in place on the saw trigger, now you can operate the power from the convenient toggle switch.more like a conventional tablesaw.👍👍
I love the flip cut technique! SAFETY ALERT, not a worry, due to the blade angle going out. Very little risk of pull back, and the fingers are far enough away. An experienced person would have no issues. An inexperienced one may be missing digits. Oh well, how else are they gunna learn?
If you drill a pizza do you end up with a "pie hole?" If you drilled an uncut pizza would you end up with a pie hole in a whole pie?
I have a freeze dryer and have freeze dried pizza. I am not sure what speed is optimum for drilling freeze dried pizza, but at any speed dust is likely to be generated. In a high humidity environment, results may vary. Working during the winter with the low humidity might be best.
